- Application - Refers to the Web of Science Research Intelligence software.
- Affiliation - The organization (and department, if available) a researcher is associated with, based on the most recent Web of Science Core Collection publication information.
- Department - Any sub-level unit within an organization.
- Expert Finder - This is the name of the section that allows you to find researchers based on their related research data and performance.
- Homepage - The initial screen you see when you log into the system.
- Key Performance Indicator - Metric to track and demonstrate research performance.
- More Options Menu - In many areas, you'll see three vertical dots, usually on the top right corner of an element, to indicate there are additional actions you can take in this section.
- Navigation Menu - Is used to help you navigate the different sections of the application and quickly redirect to these sections.
- Organization - A top-level unit that may or may not have departments. Organizations can be of different types such as Academic, Research, Government and Corporate.
- Organization Details Page - A detailed view of an organization including its key performance indicators and researchers.
- Researcher Card - A detailed view of a researcher including name, affiliation, key performance indicators and selected publications.
- Research Topics - The hierarchical classification schema used across the application. There are Macro, Meso and Micro level terms. For additional information, see the Research Topics Schema page.
- Search Scope - In the Organization and Researcher search results pages, you can change the search scope (Search by). For example, if you searched for a researcher by name, you can change the search scope to search by an organization, and then enter an organization name.
- Societal Facets - Societal needs are classified into eight societal facets (for example, Economic, Technological, etc.) detailed here.
