Visualization Options in the Research Intelligence Assistants

The Research Intelligence Assistants can generate various visualizations of the queried data, either by suggesting a visualization or when specifically asked to generate one.

The visualizations have the following options:

Graph / Table View

You can use this toggle to quickly switch between a table view and a graph view.

Select Graph type

Regardless of the graph type that was suggested by the Assistant, you can choose from additional graph types, such as a Bar chart, Line chart and more. This will either be presented as tabs you can switch between or a drop down menu you can select from.

Add Custom Chart

You can save your own modified visualization. When selecting this option, you can choose the Chart name, Chart type, which entity is being analyzed, which metrics will display (you can choose up to 7) and the number of entities displayed (default is 10 and the user can select 10 or less). The new modified chart will display in the chat and the chart preferences are saved in the drop down list for future use. You can also remove custom charts from this list.

Chart menu

In the upper right corner of the graph you will find the Chart menu. This menu offers additional features such as View in full screen, Print chart, Download as image or document (multiple formats are available).

For comparison

You can ask questions that mention specific organizations, researchers, or journals without narrowing the dataset. The agent recognizes when an entity is being used for comparison, rather than as a filter, and will display it first in the chart and data table while evaluating the broader set.

Underlying publications

You can click the publication count in the data table view of an Impact Evaluation response to drill down into the articles behind each indicator. When selected, a pop‑up displays the underlying publications with key details, and you can open individual articles directly in Web of Science for deeper review.

Browse other research areas

You can modify the research areas and schemas selected by the agent using this interactive pop-up dialogue. Open the pop-up via the ‘browse other research areas’ button and then browse research areas within the selected schema.

You will see the current selection of schema and research areas. You can search, add and remove research areas from this schema.

You can explore other schemas by clicking the ‘browse other schemas’ button.

You can multi-select research areas and then rerun the analysis with your tailored research area and schema selection.

Add to report

You can turn charts generated in the Research Intelligence Impact Evaluation Assistant into tailored reports in a rich editing workspace. You can add charts to a new or existing report.

To add, click Add to Report next to any generated chart.
