April 1st 2026 Release Notes

New Features

General

The Homepage design was refreshed and a quick link was added to Projects.

Research Intelligence Assistant

  • The Assistant landing page design was refreshed to align with the updated Homepage design.
  • For Comparison – We improved how the impact evaluation agent handles questions that mention specific organizations (or other entities) for comparison, rather than as filters. Before this update, a question like: “How does University of Manitoba compare to other Canadian universities publishing about quantum computing over the last 10 years?” could incorrectly treat University of Manitoba as an organization filter. That would narrow the result set to only that institution, which is not what the question is asking.
With this release, the assistant now recognizes when named entities like organizations, researchers, and journals are being used for comparison and treats them differently from filter criteria. Instead of restricting the results to those entities, it keeps them in view as comparison entities against the broader set.
  • Underlying publications – In the table view of an Impact Evaluation response, users can now drill down into the publications behind publication count indicators by clicking the entity count. The pop-up dialogue shows the underlying publications with key details, and individual articles can be opened directly in Web of Science for deeper review.

Projects

Two new entity types added to Projects: Grants and Patents.
Users can now include these entities in their projects. Similar to publications, grants and patents can be added either by searching for individual IDs or by uploading a CSV file containing the relevant IDs.

User Management

In the User Management Change history tab User Admins can now filter by the action status: Success or Failed.

Known issue: when resetting filters the page loads several times in rapid succession and then the page displays correctly. This will be fixed soon.

Coming Soon

User Management

User Admins will soon be able to grant access to Web of Science Research Intelligence to multiple users at once by uploading a CSV file with user emails and names, instead of adding users individually.

Projects

Users will soon be able to share projects (as read-only) with other users in the same institution who have access to Web of Science Research Intelligence.

Both the project owners and the users they share them with will be able to use the projects in the Societal Impact reporting and in the Research Intelligence assistant, once supported.
