June 24th 2026 Release Notes

New Features

Research Intelligence Assistant

  • Unified Assistant experience: You can now interact with any of the Web of Science Research Intelligence guides using a unified conversational input that allows you to carry a continuous conversation across all guides from a single entry point. You can start a conversation directly from the homepage and from the Assistant section. The experience is powered by a multi‑agent workflow that understands intent, routes tasks intelligently, and preserves context across steps. You can ask about funding opportunities, analyze research impact, explore collaborations and identify emerging topics in one conversation, either by allowing the Assistant to route the question to the best matched guide or by selecting a specific guide to interact with.
  • Department metrics: You can now ask about specific departments and can compare specific departments across institutions. The charts in the responses can be added to a custom report.
Department-level support is currently limited to bibliometrics at the department level. Using a department as a filter for other analyses, such as identifying the journals, researchers or research areas a department publishes in most often, is not yet supported.
  • Incremental improvements to multi-language support: In the Emerging Topics guide, questions asked in non-English languages are now translated to English before the search, improving the relevance and quality of results. Responses are then generated in the same language as the original question.
We are applying similar improvements across the other guides as well. Multi-language support is not yet fully available everywhere, but we will continue expanding these capabilities in the coming weeks.

Custom Reports

  • New Chart Types
    • Treemap: Visualize hierarchical data with proportional sizing across categories
    • Single KPI: Highlight a key metric with a clear, focused display
  • Pinned Items in Table View: You can now pin rows to the top of tables for easier comparison and visibility.
    • Supported entities: Organizations, Researchers, Publication Source (Journals)
    • Coming soon: pinning Locations, Research Areas, Funding Agencies, and Departments
  • Baselines: You can now add baselines in the chart editing workspace, in the table view:
    • Global Baseline: Benchmark against global data
    • Baseline for All Items: Represents all items in the results table
    • Coming Soon: Baseline for pinned items, country/region baseline for pinned items, and viewing baselines in the chart view
  • Department metrics: Departments can now be analyzed as a primary entity: you can analyze specific departments and can compare specific departments across institutions
    • Coming soon: Using department as a filter for other analyses, such as identifying the journals, researchers or research areas a department publishes in most often, is not yet supported.
  • Filter Enhancement - Exclude Operator: A new “Exclude” filter operator is now available. This allows users to explicitly remove selected values from their results.

Societal Impact Reports

  • Relevance indicator: When All Outputs is selected, the Relevance indicator group now displays a treemap of publications by UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), providing a clear view of how research outputs are distributed across UN SDGs. When a specific societal facet (for example, Technological) is selected, the existing trend chart (publications over time by UN SDG) remains available, allowing you to explore how activity evolves within that facet.

Managing Researcher and Organization Data

  • The Organization Management feature introduced in April allows users with the Organization Management role to manage the hierarchical structure of their organization by creating new departments (or any sub-unit), editing department names and moving departments to other parent departments. Organization management admins are now able to make these changes in bulk by exporting the existing organizational structure, making changes and uploading the file. Admins can also load their own files, if they follow the required structure.
This feature is accessed in the Web of Science Institutional Data Manager.

Organizations and Researchers

  • Organizations
    • UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): You can now view an organization’s contribution to SDGs on the organization details page, in a treemap showing how many of the organization’s publications are mapped to each SDG. You can also configure how many SDGs to display based on your preference.
    • Link to reports: You can now navigate directly to reports from the organization details page:
      • Organization Research Performance Summary (RPS) report: Access the RPS report from the Performance section of the organization details page. The report opens with the selected organization already applied as a filter.
      • Organization Societal Impact report: Access the Societal Impact report from the top section of the organization details page. The report opens with the selected organization already applied as a filter.

  • Expert Finder
    • Search by ID: You can now search for researchers using their Researcher ID or ORCiD. Enter the ID or part of it in the search bar to see matching researchers in the dropdown suggestions, or run the search to view additional results.

User Management

  • Starting June 26th, User Admins will be able to grant access to Web of Science Research Intelligence to multiple users – up to 10,000 - at once by uploading a CSV file with user institutional emails and names, instead of adding users individually. This enables faster and more efficient user management.

The feature will be available under Admin → User Management and will be accessible only to User Admins.

Known issues:

Files containing more than 1,000 users may fail to upload. We recommend loading files of up to 1,000 users. The issue will be resolved in an upcoming release.

Emerging Topics

  • List View export: you can now export the list view to CSV.  Any semantic search keywords and any filters applied will be included in the export.

Fixes

  • Societal Impact Report: Societal Impact Profile Chart - Fixed an issue where the bars for Signals of Potential Impact and Signals of Observed Impact were overlapping when the user interface language was set to any language other than English. The chart now displays correctly across all supported languages.
